Qualifying For Social Security Disability Insurance

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are available for those who are disabled and are unable to work.  In order to qualify for this type of disability benefit, you must have paid Social Security taxes for a certain number of quarters in the past years, and have worked at least ten  years in your life, and for five of the ten years prior to the date that you become totally disabled.  For those disabled and are under the age of 28, the requirements are adjusted.

SSDI benefits can also be available to widows or widowers who become disabled and are over 50 years old, if they become disabled within 7 years of their spouse's death.  It is also available to some under the age of 22 who have a parent on SSDI or Social Security retirement benefits.  To find out more about whether this type of benefit is available to you, contact the Social Security benefits attorneys from the Malaise Law Firm.  Our office is very experienced in handling Social Security benefit claims and can assist you with filling out the petition accurately and with all the medical information that is needed in order for them to accept your claim.
